The EASL Shooting Series consists of seven Matches held at the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Range on Landry Road across from the Lamar Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales.

The 22 Rifle Silhouette Matches are held on the 4th Saturday of the Month, starting in February, and ending in August.

The Matches start at 8:00 AM, and sometimes last until 4:00 PM, depending on participation, and what individual competition is held.

Each Match consists of different competition events including an NRA sanctioned match, a Sportsman’s match, a Kid’s match.  On occasion, there will be a Bench Rest Competition.

The distances used in the matches are, 40, 60, and 77 meters, and 100 yards. The adults shoot 1/5 scale targets, while the kids shoot 3/8 scale targets.

There is a $5.00 charge for adults and a $1.00 charge for kids. This will cover the costs of cooking for the events.

These matches are set up to “have something for everyone” no matter what shooting experience you have.

All you need is a desire to shoot and have fun, and a 22 rifle if you have one.

The Shooting Sports series is affiliated with EASL. For more information, contact Thad Bellow at 675-6275.
